Captain Peacock's grave

Does anyone know what has broken off the top of the stone obelisk above the lavish pink marble? Are there any plans to restore this memorial to the Peacock - Cookson family?

  1. Hi.
I believe an obelisk looking like a broken column is to denote someone who died young - ie. a life cut short.

  2. Thankyou very much. This is the second time that someone has given that information, so it must be right. I thought that the patina on the broken part on top of the column was not compatible with being constructed contemporaneously.
    Thanks again
