  1. I know nothing about the kilns, but I'm descended from William Bartlett Beard, whose parents were John Beard and Elizabeth nee Bartlett (married 16 July 1801 at West Teignmouth). The Beard family were based in Kenton area from about 1730s. The first William Beard married Thomasine Widdecome, the widow of John Bickford, 3 Aug 1733 at St Thomas, Exeter and their descendants remained in the area until late 1850s, when William Bartlett Beard and family moved to Wells, Somerset. No one is sure where William Beard came from. Thomasine Withicombe (or the numerous variations) was the daughter of William Withicombe and Elizabeth nee Oram, who married in 1701 at Kenton. There were at least 7 children, although several died young. I can only find one son John, who married and had children. John (bp 28 jun 1711, Kenton) married Elizabeth Ware in 1734 at Kenton. Their son William married Elizabeth daughter of William & Thomasine Beard, but I don't have lot of information about their family. In terms of link to the Jordan family, Thomasin Beard (daughter of William & Thomasin Beard) married John Jordan in 1773 and their first children were baptised in Kenton or West Teigmouth, but two more were baptised at St Gluvias, near Penryn, Cornwall.
